Cameron De Haan joins Centurion Club

A partnership of 169 between Captain Andrew Cosh and Accies latest centurion, Cameron De Haan.

Accies 1st XI welcomed Musselburgh to Newfield on a sunny Saturday afternoon as the Scottish summer reached its peak. Musselburgh elected to bowl and, on a high-scoring ground, Accies would look to build a substantial total.

Captain Andrew Cosh and Stuart Cosh opened the batting and set the tone from ball one, A. Cosh driving a couple of fours in the first over. A good rotation of strike as Accies rapidly moved to 16 runs after 3 overs. In the fourth over, Musselburgh’s opening bowler found the edge of S. Cosh and Accies were 16 for 1. Cameron De Haan, batting at three, joined the Accies captain and the run-rate grew even higher.

Cameron De Haan looked in blistering form and together with the captain began to tally up the runs. C. De Haan, dealing in boundaries, played some magnificent shots around the ground - driving straight over the top and also hitting the ball for six with a characteristic flick on the leg side.

C. De Haan reached his fifty before drinks and, on a scorching afternoon, both batsmen welcomed the refreshments. Accies were 120 runs for 1 wicket in 25 overs. After drinks, it was the captain’s turn to reach his fifty.

An outstanding batting performance from the top order, Accies were 185 runs for 1 after 37 overs when A. Cosh was bowled for 71. A. Cosh and C. De Haan made a partnership of 169, certainly the highest of the season and one of the highest for Accies first and third batsmen.

C. De Haan reached his century amongst great celebrations. The first century of Accies season and Cameron’s first ever ton as he joins the prestigious Centurion Club.

Sam Bell, batting at four, continued to increase Accies score and the middle order were able to score runs quickly thanks to the solid foundation. G. Kulkarni scored a rapid 25 runs and Accies made a colossal 253 runs for 8 wickets after 50 overs.

At Tea, Accies were confident of defending the total set by the batsmen even with our opening bowler, Lawrence Mann, away on holiday,

Accies overseas professional, Sudhir, and Y. Khanchi opened the bowling. Sudhir bowled his 7 overs for only 8 runs and Y. Khanchi took a couple of wickets in his 10 overs for 22 runs. V. Suho bowled an incredible 10 overs and claimed a 5-wicket-haul for 29 runs. An amazing bowling effort and superb fielding, a couple of catches for C. De Haan and one in the covers for S. Cosh.

Spinners Nick Keyden, 2 wickets for 21 runs, and Sam Bell, 1 wicket for 7 runs, completed the win for Accies. Musselburgh were all out for 86 runs.
